FIRN Younger Researcher Programme

The FIRN Younger Researcher Programme is designed to harness and advance the training and development of younger researchers in FIRN's designated research disciplines. FIRN has set in place a series of workshops, doctoral tutorials, master classes and symposia to maximize the exposure of its younger researchers to a vibrant, internationally prominent, research community. The first annual Doctoral Tutorial for PhD students, at which their work is commented on by prominent discussants, took place in December 2005 in Sydney.

The first Master Class for younger researchers was held in early 2006 at Melbourne Business School, which provided significant sponsorship. The FIRN Master Class provides a high profile and challenge learning environment for FIRN affiliated younger researchers where they are exposed to the latest developments and knowledge advances in three key areas of finance, presented by renowned international finance academics. Presenters of the FIRN Master Class 2006 were Professor Kose John (New York University), Professor Richard Stapleton (University of Manchester) and Professor Richard Stapleton (University of Manchester) and Professor Allan Timmermann (University of California, San Diego).

FIRN also encourages visitors to conduct workshops for younger researchers and provides travel scholarships to enable affiliated students to attend these events. FIRN younger researcher events are usually free for affiliated students; fees for not-affiliated students are kept within reasonable limits.
